Creating a Collection
An intense moment in my life as a textile designer
It was with some hesitation, many questions and a little apprehension that I went to Label Graine for the first time...
There I discovered a great team of welcoming, competent and incredibly attentive people.
A collection is born first from personal work with a lot of pencil drawings on my paper, then from work on my graphics software.
Finally, head to Valsonne near Lyon, almost 4 hours drive to discover the Holy Grail: Label Graine.
First Nadine, you have a question Nadine has the answer, so you can imagine that she was my lifeline, thank you very much for your patience and your competence (word that will be repeated in this article). It was Nadine who received me and introduced me to Label Graine and the team...
The choice of materials for me was quite simple: Linen was an obvious choice, echoing my work as an animal painter and my paintings on Linen canvas.
Then the infographic with Christophe, adorable master of color, it's not easy to harmonize a collection and make the exact color mix to find that "brick" (Sologne orange) that is bright but not too flashy!
Head to the printing workshop, Thierry’s lair, who skillfully operates (...) his secret machines to enhance my linen.
There are many other characters in my story, Marie-Pierre and Régis for their advice and the informative lunches in the little restaurant in Valsonne, the kindness of Valérie at the reception, I also met Floriane and those whose names I unfortunately did not remember (my head was going to explode because I had so much information to assimilate).
And ... Pascale, THE seamstress of Label Graine, kindness, skills, listening, advice... and yes, I, who am a very, very basic seamstress, am captivated.
The prototypes take shape under his guidance. And there is Ayiro... I promise I'll dedicate another article to him because he deserves it!
I leave with the car full of fabric samples, new ideas and possibilities. All I have left to do is make my cushions , pouches , aprons and suspensions for my collection.
